Tyagi Community

The word 'Tyagi' is derived from the Sanskrit word 'tyag', meaning 'to sacrifice' or 'one who has renounced'. Taga and Tagha are the alternative names that are sometimes used. The majority of us still live in western Uttar Pradesh. Other surnames used by us include Rai, Sharma, Kapil, Galav and Sinha.
